what is the mind?
The mind is the element of a person that allows us to be aware of the world and our experiences.
Mental health is being in a good, balanced and rational state of mind. Mental health is something everyone should achieve. Not having a mental illness does not necessarily mean you are mentally healthy.
FUNCTIONS OF THE MIND
ØThink. Create a rational meaning of our surroundings. (Right Judgment) e.g. Judge, perceive, analyze
ØFeel. Evaluate correctly what is happening around us to let us know when we are safe or not. (Tell how we are doing, happy or sad or scared),e.g. happy, sad, calm, worried, excited.
ØWant. To allocate our energy before action. (To do or not to do, goals and desires) e.g. motives, purposes, agendas
In short, the mind is our operating THINK TANK and so we need to protect it.
Safety of the mind denotes to measures taken in order to protect from injury or harm the mental being of a person.
The safety of the mind aims at giving a person psychological health and a state of well-being.
