If a girl is being blackmailed

via St. Georges International UN Model Club in Cologne

Are you being blackmailed? Is someone demanding money or special favors from you because they are holding something potentially damaging against you?

The greatest power you can give someone who is blackmailing is by giving in to their demand; they may promise to get rid of the damaging information they know about you but you cannot be sure that they will not use it to take advantage of you.

So what do you do if you are being blackmailed? The most redeeming thing to do is to come clean about your actions. By revealing the truth before the blackmailer does so, leaves them without power over you.

If you do not have enough confidence to come clean of whatever it is that you did, then collect evidence that you are being blackmailed; record the audio, video or emails which show that you are being blackmailed, do not give in to the blackmail and if your blackmailer exposes you, you can possibly sue them for blackmail. If the case is very serious, you can consult a lawyer on what to do or report to the appropriate authorities.

Do not use any evidence against your blackmailer to blackmail them too. If you have any incriminating evidence against your blackmailer, take it to the rightful authorities and avoid manipulating your blackmailer with it. In any case, follow your gut feeling and focus on doing the right thing which will be beneficial to you and everyone involved in the long term.

Once everything blows over, take responsibility for your part in the action. Avoid hurting yourself or anyone and do your best to avoid any activity that may lead you to being blackmailed in the future. Stay safe.

If a girl has trouble falling asleep

via St. Georges International UN Model Club in Cologne

The first thing you must do if you have trouble sleeping to make sure that your room is conducive for sleep. Check that the temperature is balanced, not too hot and yet not cold either. Then make sure that your bed spread and bed sheets are clean and comfortable and your pillow just right.

Dedicate your bedroom for sleeping only and avoid spending too much time during the day where you sleep. Color your bedroom with faint colors so that you can sleep easily, bright colors tend to keep the mind awake.

Before going to sleep, take time to unwind; read a book that doesn’t cause you to think too much, take a brief walk, shower, paint, pray or do whatever makes you feel relaxed. Avoid caffeine or a heavy meal before sleeping. And once you get in bed, don’t start overthinking about the things you did wrong during the day, put aside your worries about tomorrow and instead let your mind wander on mundane things. Try to lay still and count from 100 backwards to unwind before falling asleep.

If you are excited, too happy or too sad, it may prove difficult to sleep so be sure to go to bed with resolved feelings. Doing a lot of thinking work before going to bed can also prevent sleep no matter how tired you feel. Exercise before sleeping or even meditate.

Try not to become dependent on sleeping pills, instead focus on going to sleep naturally. Form a natural sleep pattern daily and go to bed at the same time every night. Do your best to also wake up at the same time. Have a good night sleep. Good luck.

If a girl is going to a party

By Faith Allen via UN Volunteers

We all have attended a party one time or another in our life.  Here are some tips to keep in mind for your next party.

The three questions you should have answered before going to any party is: What is the party about? Who else will be at the party? Is it important for you to be at the party?

Be selective of the parties you go to. Make sure the party you select is one that will encourage your personal , career or social growth. If a party is not beneficial to you and may lead you to spend money recklessly or even put your life in danger, consider not going.

Once you are at a party, determine whether you are going to eat or drink anything. It is always important to keep an eye on where your food and drink comes from. This will not only allow you to see if the food was prepared in a clean environment but it will also prevent anyone from putting a drug into your drink.

Always let someone know where you are going. If possible, take a trusted friend with you especially if you will be out drinking. If you are in trouble, have a trusted friend on standby for you and call them.

Always carry extra money even if you are not paying and make sure to treat the party hosts with respect if necessary.

Additionally, wear shoes and clothes that you are comfortable in, be confident and have fun. Be safe.
