Silvia from Spain: Everyday A Girl

By Silvia Fernandez

This is the story of Silvia Fernandez for #EverydayAGirl, as shared via UN Online Volunteers.

This is Silvia from the balcony of her room at home, in Spain. She is a 25-year-old woman, living with her parents and her brother.

During the summer days, Silvia likes to spend her time reading novels.

Today is Spain’s General Election and Silvia goes to vote together with her family. After that, they go to have an appetizer before lunch time.

In the late afternoon, when the temperature cools down, Silvia and her parents go for a walk at the beach.

Silvia and her boyfriend, José Luis, like to spend time together whenever they can. Favourites of theirs include watching series together.

Tonight Silvia is cooking dinner with her brother. She is using the culinary machine to make a sauce for the dessert. It will be a brownie with English custard.

At the end of the day, Silvia likes to relax by playing video games in her room.

The story of Everyday a Girl, tagged #EDAG, is a glance into the lives of ordinary women through a series of poignant photo stories. These series of images will visually express the roles, challenges, activities and duties that females in diverse communities face in their daily lives.

SAFIGI Outreach Foundation Ltd, a volunteer-run NGO registered in Zambia, implemented EDAG in order to place a strong emphasis on positively redefining the role of females in our society. This campaign highlights that gender equality and equity, woman empowerment, and safety for the girls is key to the world’s socio-economic development.
