WHAT IS MENTAL ABUSE?
Mental abuse is also known as emotional abuse or psychological abuse which is the unhealthy condition in which a persons emotions and mental health are being manipulated by another person resulting into negative effects on the persons emotions and mental health causing intimidation, trauma, low self-esteem among other negative factors.
WHO IS SUBJECT TO MENTAL ABUSE?
Any person can be a victim of mental abuse regardless of gender. It is important to know that you are in a healthy relationship.
WHO CAN CAUSE MENTAL ABUSE?
Anyone can cause mental abuse, knowingly and even unknowingly. It is important to learn the facts and also to determine whether you are emotionally abusive or not.
WHERE CAN MENTAL ABUSE HAPPEN?
Because mental abuse is not physical it can happen anywhere. At church, at school, at work and et cetera.
HOW CAN YOU SEEK HELP?
To seek help you first have to understand what kind of abusive relationship you are in. Then you have to determine if you want to leave the relationship or stay in it. Either way, it is important to seek counselling to help you in your journey.
If you choose to stay in the relationship, persuade your partner to seek counselling too in order to show effort to make the relationship work.
However, if the mental abuse is coming from your boss, a co-worker or acquaintance be sure to discuss this with people you trust to help you decide on the next step. You can even consult a counselor to evaluate your situation. Each case is different and so there cannot be one solution for mental abuse.
