Some of us live in what is considered a safe area, where crime rates are relatively low and a trip to the shops or to and from school isn’t given much thought while some of us live in “high risk” areas where walking anywhere can be dangerous but unfortunately necessary. This article aims to make you more street smart and help you decrease your chances of becoming a target and increase your knowledge of how to decrease your chances of being attacked, robbed or abducted while walking alone whether during the day or night.
Always walk in groups when possible and avoid going out at night alone but if you must walk somewhere on your own use these powerful tips to protect yourself and please share them with your family and friends!

So given this is my first blog post, I wish to start a series – to find the inspirational stories of women around the world, and share it with everyone. And where can be a better place to begin, than my own country; Singapore.

There are so many things that I thought of adding to the list but I’ve decided to only include those that I personally believe to be the most empowering and life-changing. If you can already do some (or all) of these than you are definitely empowered and should start teaching other girls and women how to do them too!
1. Self defense When you find yourself in a dangerous situation knowing how to defend yourself so you can get away is critical. If you don’t have the money to afford or can’t find a local self defense trainer this shouldn’t stop you. The internet is full of articles, guides and videos on self defense training – watch and read these, they could save your life! Then get together with some friends or a sibling and practice these moves (without actually hurting each other).

Virginity is something that does not return and losing it means doing it forever so that’s why you don’t have to rush, also to avoid consequences you are not looking for (such as an unwanted pregnancy or sexually transmitted disease) and start your sex life positively.

No one can pressure you to have sex. It is a decision that you yourself should take and which must be fully convinced.
